Our Organization: The A. G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club
Since 1966, the A. G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club has been helping children from Birmingham neighborhoods stay out of trouble, remain in school and succeed in life. We provide two locations with nurturing, safe environments where children can spend time after school and during the summer.
Our Club Members are special! Each day, they come to learn new skills, receive extra help with their homework, develop social skills, express themselves creatively through music and the arts, and participate in sports.
The A.G. Gaston Boys & Girls Club has operated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization since 1966. It is affiliated with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, a nationwide organization of nearly 4,000 Clubs with a similar core mission of serving some 4 million children and teens through Club membership and community outreach.
Our administrative offices are located at the South Park Club on the west side of Birmingham, which serves as a hub for expanded seasonal sports activities, aquatics, art and computer training.
The Children We Serve
More than 1,200 children come through our doors each year. Ranging in age from 6-18, these boys and girls pay just $8 per year to use our facilities and participate in a variety of enrichment programs. Because our facilities actually are located in the neighborhoods where they are most needed, our Clubs are a "home away from home."
Currently, our Clubs are located near West End - the South Park Club - and in Bessemer in the Southside Homes community.
The Clubs are open from 2:30 pm – 8:00 pm during the school year and all day, Monday through Friday, during Spring Break and throughout the summer.
